COVID-19 and how it affects Paint Parties

It is a strange time right now, and everyone is scrambling to make sense and order out of this pandemic.  Your health and our employees health are the most important thing at this time.

The restaurant, bar and entertainment industry has been hit very hard. As we to are in this industry and are a small business operator these times have greatly affected us!  Currently we are limited in the number of classes and size of classes we can offer. We are doing our best to follow the guidelines set by the Canadian and Manitoba Governments.  

As a result we are offering small Paint Your Pet and Acrylic Pour classes in person at local restaurants.  We will be practicing social distancing and will require everyone to clean their hands with sanitizer when they arrive.  Your seats will be pre-assigned to allow for maximum seating for social distancing.  We will need to know how many people are in your group and their names so we can know who can sit together and who needs their own space.

We will also be offering virtual paint parties and a small price.  These are done live on Zoom and are interactive.  You can purchase your own supplies anywhere or if you need packages can be purchased in advance from Winnipeg Art & Wine.

If you had already signed up for an event that was cancelled you would have been given a code to use to register for another event on-line.  These are fully transferrable to other events such as the one you booked for. 

Deposit for private events or Fundraisers are also non-refundable but can be used to book your private event at a later suitable time for you.

What is an Art and Wine event?

A.

A fun, social, group setting, with an professional artist to guide you step by step in replicating the nights featured painting. By the end of the evening you will create a fabulous piece of artwork! The event times vary and are 2 1/2 – 3 hours with frequent breaks.

We offer adult classes and children classes. As our adult classes are located in bars and restaurants, and involve drinking wine or your favourite beverage.  Unless stated otherwise; children are not allowed at these events. Check out our calendar for a list of events.

What is a Paint Your Pet event

A.

This is a specialized, one of a kind, painting of YOUR pet.   You supply us with a very clear, detailed image of your pet, we do a detailed drawing along with some colouring aids and then we teach you ow to paint your pet when you arrive to class.  ++ THIS IS AN UPSCALE PAINTING OF YOUR PET, WE ARE NOT DOING CARTOON PAINTINGS.  

Only 1 pet per painting allowed.  Once you have purchased your ticket please send us a VERY clear, well-lit photograph in a JPEG format via email along with your full name and order number to:  [email protected].  We will sketch your pet directly on your canvas for you, ready for you to paint when your arrive.  It maybe be necessary for the image to be altered to fit the canvas.

We do accept beginners however this is a more difficult painting than one done at our normal Paint Parties.  General painting experience would be helpful. 

As this is a special event no discounts, Groupons, or promotions of any kind can be used on this event.  Also,  due to the extra preparation time, NO REFUNDS will be given.

This event start 1/2 hour earlier than a normal paint party event.  This event is a minimum of 3 hours and a maximum of 4 hours.  Please allow plenty of time for your painting.

DEADLINE:  Please note as we must allow time for our artist to sketch we ask that you mail your pet photograph within a week of signing up or no later than 1 week prior to the event date.   If your photograph is not in to us by that date we will not be able to sketch your pet and you will forfeit your ticket.

Cancellation Policy: Unfortunately due to the one of a kind nature of this Paint Event we will not be able to accept any cancellations or rescheduling or any kind.

What is the cost of a Art and Wine event?

A.

The price is $39.95 for an adult class and $35.00 for a children's class.   

Fundraisers and Private Parties do not qualify for these rates.  
Private Parties and Fundraisers are based on the number of people who attend.  Contact our office by email or phone  for private party inquiries at [email protected]

What is included in the price?

A.

We provide the artist instructor, canvas, paint, brushes, easels, aprons, palettes - everything needed to produce your masterpiece.   Refreshments and alcohol are not included.

Art and Wine is the name of our company because we believe "wine" is the perfect compliment to art however not everyone partakes in consuming alcohol and we do not want someone to pay for something they do not participate in. Drinking a soft drink for some individuals is a perfect combination for them.

We keep the price at $35 - $45 for the supplies and instruction and do not increase the price to include beverages so that everyone has a choice. Most of our venues run drink specials or have a fun menu to choose from. All food and drinks are the responsibility of the attendee.

Do I need to sign up in advance?

A.

Yes you will need to register for a class in advance as many of our our events can sell out. You can register on the website or give us a call and we will be happy to walk you through the registration process.

Do I need experience?

A.

Absolutely NOT!  No experience is necessary.  That's why we are here!

You do not need to know how to paint or to even be artistic!  You will receive simple to follow step by step detailed instructions by a professional
artist.  There is no way to go wrong.  You will be amazed even if you have not painted before or are even creative.  Try it and you will BELIEVE!

Are the paintings difficult?

A.

We offer a variety of paintings that are normally for the beginner to painting.

If you are in need of  a challenge, maybe you have already gone to a number of Art and Wine events, or your already have painting experience we will be offer intermediate and advance level paintings.  Once you are in advance level we will also be offering oil painting lessons.    Contact us for further information or to express an interest.

What time do I need to arrive for an event?

A.

We recommend arriving a minimum of 30 minutes early to reserve the seat your like, especially if you are in a large group and want to sit together.  This will also give you time to settle in and get your drink.  If you wish to come for a bite to eat first them arrive as early as you like!

Our events start EXACTLY at the time indicated so don't be late!

Arrive nice and early so that you can save your seat as we can not guarantee that you will be seated together. Seating is on a first come first serve basis. Seating is similar to a movie theatre where if you come close to the start time or late you may not get a good seat or not be able to sit together. We can not rearranging the seating plan to accommodate you or your groups needs as this unfair to the folks who come early and already have their seats saved.  So if their are only two seats left together and you come 10 minutes before the event starts you probably will not sit together if there are 3 of you.

How do I save my seat?

A.

When you arrive you will see that the room has been set up with tables that have easels and canvasses on them. You can select your seat. If the canvas is turned around backwards (with the wood showing) this means that someone else is already sitting there. If the canvas looks ready to paint on then that spot is available. Once you select your seat turn over your canvas so that this reserves your spot. *Please also note:  Sometimes people forget to turn over their canvas but leave a jacket on the seat instead. If there are jackets, drinks or personal items on a seat then consider this seat also reserved.

If you do accidently seat in someone else's seat you will be asked to move to an available seat.

What do I wear?

A.

We provide aprons, but you may want to wear something you wouldn't mind getting paint on -- just in case! We work with acrylic paint which is water based so washes off with soap and water but unfortunately there can be materials it does not wash out from, and if it is left too long it may also become difficult to remove.

What is your cancellation policy?

A.

Winnipeg Art and Wine is an entertainment event much like a concert, dinner theater or movie theater. We do allow cancellations or reschedules unlike the above but we do require a minimum of 72 hours notice for regular Art and Wine events only and up to a week for other events such as Paint Your Pet, Mosaic, Fundraisers, etc.  If an event is sold out then a minimum of 7 days notice is required.  

Cancellations must be made via email or by phone. This provides us the opportunity to fill the space. We will provide a full refund or reschedule you with 72 hrs to 1 weeks notice depending on the event.  Please read the actual event page for the cancellation policy for that event.  We will charge the event fee for reservations not cancelled within the time frame set out on your event. If you are unable to give the required notice in most cases your ticket is fully transferable.  We suggest you give your reservation to a friend and they can go in your place, so your reservation doesn't go to waste. Not all events are transferable (e.g. Paint Your Pet) so please be sure to read the exact policy for your event outlined on the events page.

Cancellations for a sold out event can only be given with 7 days notice to allow for someone else to purchase the tickets.

Cancellations for a Fundraising event is subject to the rules and regulations set out by the Fundraising Organizers and in accordance to Winnipeg Art & Wine's general cancellations policy. The minimum time frame for cancellation being 96 hours and in some cases cancellations are not accepted at all depending on the Fundraiser.  Don’t worry though in most cases your admission is fully transferable to someone else.

Paint Your Pet and Paint a Portrait cancellations:  

Unfortunately due to the one of a kind nature of this Paint Event we will not be able to accept any cancellations or rescheduling or any kind.

Deposits on Fundraisers and Private Parties:

Due to the extra work that is required to schedule and organize a Private Party or Fundraising Party there is a minimum of a $30.00 fee if there is the need to cancel one of these parties by the organizer.

In the event of a cancellation if either less than 96 hours (4 days) notice has been given to Winnipeg Art & Wine or if Winnipeg Art & Wine has had to incur any expenses to organize this event, from venue costs, artist costs, to purchasing of specialized products, etc, then no refund can be given.  You maybe able to reschedule this event without any penalty, please contact Winnipeg Art & Wine with regards to rescheduling a Fundraiser or Private Party.

What do we do in the case of a snow storm?

A.

The weather in Winnipeg and surrounding areas is variable to say the least!  Weathermen can not always be helpful.  If we stayed home every time the weatherman said it would be snowing or too cold we would never see outside again!!  We will normally be running our class come rain, shine or snow!  Only a true blizzard can keep a Winnipegger down and out!

With that being said though, if there is a true blizzard the class will be cancelled and reschedule at another date.  If you are unable to attend the new date you will be able to cancel and be issued a refund.  We will notify you the day of the event if the event is cancelled by email and by telephone if possible. 

Cancellations are very rare and normally only occur once or twice per winter.  If in doubt phone us at 204-339-2810.  If you haven't heard from us then it should be because there is still a class.

Can I leave my child at a children event?

A.

Yes and no. How's that for an anwer!

It depends on the maturity level of your child and the minimum age to be left alone is 8 years old. Parents are not required to paint and can enjoy watching their child create.

Five years and up. We ask that parents accompany any child between 5 - 7 years for the class.
Eight years and older are welcome to join without their significant adult!

Can I get a discount if I come often?

A.

Yes.  To reward "frequent flyers" we have a number of options for the repeat guest.

  1. Monthly Membership:  If you wish to become a member you will receive unlimited - yes, unlimited - events per month at the low price of only $24.95 per event.   Membership is only $9.95 per month.  The membership pays for itself with only one class - yes only 1 class!  Find out more information here:  Membership
  2. Frequent Flyer 3 - Buy 2 classes and receive the 3rd class one for 1/2 price!
    Costs:  $99.85 - a $19.95 savings - Entitles you to register for 3 different paint   classes of your choosing.
  3. Frequent Flyer 5 -  Buy 4 classes and receive the 5th class for FREE! 
    Cost:  $159.80 - a $39.95 savings - Entitles you to register for 5 different paint classes of your choosing.

Is a children class right for my child?

A.

Children and adults of all ages are welcome at our children classes. Younger children will need the assistance of their parents. Once a child has reached school age, we find that they can independently follow along, however this is always up to the parents discretion. Snacks of any kind are welcome at children classes and juice and muffins are provided with each registration. Even though adults are welcome, alcoholic beverages are never served at a children event.

How many people do I need for a Private Event?

A.

Generally our requirements for an Art and Wine Private Adult Event is as low as 10 guests and can go has high as you like.  If you have fewer guests you are charged for the minimum that is required.  The more people you have in attendance the less the ticket cost.  Contact us with your information at [email protected] with particular and we will quote you a price based on your attendance.

Private events can be held at one of our studios or in a location of your choosing. Many times it is held a private homes but can also be held at social halls, churches, parks, restaurants. We can aid you in your choice.

Corporate Team Building. Is Private Event right for my corporate gathering?

A.

These companies think so! Google, Apple, Microsoft, Ebay, Zappos, MGM Resorts and Casinos, Direct TV, Zenith Insurance, ReMAX, Lilly, Roche, Pfizer, General Mills, Hormel Foods, Xcel Energy, Cardinal Health, Genentech, just to name a few! How often will you repeat paintings? I missed one that I really wanted to paint.

A.

As we have 1000's of paintings to choose from we may not repeat paintings often.  If you are very interested in one of the painting please email us.   If we have enough interest we will repeat a painting.  So keep in touch.

When does the new schedule come out?

A.

The new schedule will be posted once per month.   We try to post 2 months of events at one time.  We are always updating our schedule with new venues, please join our email list to get the new events via email.

Do you have Gift Certificates available?

A.

Yes we offer gift certificates in $39.95 denominations.  Great gift for Mom, Grandmother, Daughter, Niece, Aunt or a girlfriend.

All gift certificates can be purchased on-line. The gift certificates will be emailed to you or if you prefer we can "snail" mail it. 

The gift certificates are good for any public  Art and Wine adult or children class. To redeem your gift certificate, simply visit our events calendar, select the class you would like to attend and reserve your events. You will need to enter your gift certificate number in the "coupon" field.  The value of the gift certificate is always for one paint party class.  If the price goes higher than the gift value that is no problem, you will still be able to register for the class and pay no cots.  The gift certificate is good for one class irregardless of the cost.

Important: Gift Certificates are non-refundable and have no cash value. They cannot be used for Private Events, Corporate Events, Fundraisers, or to be combined with any other coupon or promotion. Cannot be used for previous purchases.

Destruptive Behaviour

A.

We respect ALL of our customers and wish that all painters are treated with respect and patience.  As we are offering public events open to the general public with events being held at venues that offer liquor sometimes problems can arise.  In the event that we have an unruly customer that is disrupting the class, other attendee's, the venue staff or the Winnipeg Art & Wine staff, we reserve the right to eject, remove or cancel a painter who is belligerent, disruptive, argumentative, abusive or intolerable. All fees paid by the painter will be forfeited in the event of an eviction from the class.

Are any events BYOB (bring your own bottle)?

A.

BYOB is not allowed in most locations partnering for an Art and Wine event. It is illegal in Manitoba to BYOB unless it is a private or corporate event where a specialized liquor license has been acquired.   Our partnering restaurants and venues offer great drink and food options!

Do You Sell Art Supplies

A.

Yes we sell a few art supply packages at our public venues.  As we must buy our art supplies directly from the art producers and purchase in bulk we are able to get discounted prices on our supplies.  We have our paints, brushes, easels, and canvasses especially made to meet our specifications and our high quality standards and needs.

We are passing these savings on to you folks!  With top of the line quality products similiar to those at high end art supply stores we are able to offer greatly discounted prices.

One such product is our top of the line sturdy metal easel that is easy to put together and take down for travel or easy clean up.  It also comes with it's own travel bag.  This easel is adjustable and can be made into a desktop size or a full size easel.    An easel such as this runs between $30 - $40.00 at art stores but we are able to offer it for sale for only $25.00

We also offer paint packages, where you can receive everything you need to make your own painting - from the canvas, paint, brushes, apron, plate, cup, towel.  It's like a Paint Party in a bag!  All this for only $25.00!  Retails for $35.00 at art supply stores.

These items can be purchased at any of our events and you do not have to attending the event to receive the discounted prices.
